A digital and public art project celebrating Black music educators through portrait photography, written interviews, and large-scale wheatpaste installations. The project honors three influential teachers who have shaped Philadelphia’s musical landscape across both formal institutions and community-based spaces. Rooted in the Sankofa principle, looking to the past to inform the future, the project highlights the enduring impact of Black educators on the city’s cultural legacy. Final portraits and interview excerpts are presented online and wheatpasted throughout Philadelphia’s entertainment corridors, serving as a public reminder of their vital contributions to the city’s artistic identity.
